Research Manager (Quant/Data)
THE ROLE
We are looking to add a data/quant opinion researcher to join our expanding research and insights team. This role will be at Research Manager level, and we are looking for an individual who will comfortably manage research programmes, as well as someone who has experience using quantitative research to develop campaign strategies. This candidate will be a quantitative research or data specialist. Specifically, we need a candidate who can do the following:
Run end-to-end quantitative research projects – from research design, to writing questionnaires, managing fieldwork, analysing data, developing strategic recommendations and presenting this to clients;
Use data science to tell a compelling story, and present it to senior clients and stakeholders – candidates would benefit heavily from experience with Python or R, and familiarity with statistical techniques like regression, clustering/segmentation analysis
Understand how research and data is used to unlock innovative strategies to solve client problems;
Manage projects efficiently and to the highest quality;
Synthesise large data sets to develop clear and actionable insights and recommendations for clients;
Bring innovative thinking to client problems, and our own ways of working
It will also involve working closely with members of the research team to create insights for both internal and external stakeholders. It will involve leading on the design, scripting and analysis of surveys, as well as creating bespoke multi-method research solutions for clients.
A successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to see the big picture and think strategically about the biggest problems facing the UK today, while also being able to deliver complex quantitative research projects flawlessly. They will be willing to work across teams providing support beyond the traditional end of a research project, providing continued consultation on the insights provided.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
While the below is an ideal profile, we are primarily looking for individuals who show an eagerness to learn and grow.
3+ years of experience in quantitative opinion research (or data science) in a professional setting. This might be at a market research organisation, a campaigning organisation or research-driven consultancy.
Experience of working with data, ideally with languages like Python, R or SQL. There are technical elements to this role, and it is important the candidate is comfortably able to navigate and explain data to clients.
A keen interest in research design and questionnaire design, with a knack for knowing how to get to the heart of an issue and avoid misleading or biassed questions.
At least some interest in politics and policy, with a view of what is impacting the direction of politics in the UK in particular.
A passion for moving from research to strategy – the ideal candidate would not only enjoy running research itself, but using that research to inform client direction and roll into broader campaigns and decision making.
Impeccable project and client management. The successful candidate will need to hit the ground running, acting as the point of contact for large accounts, communicating clearly with clients, and managing complex workstreams to both budget and timelines.
Data visualisation skills
A serious team player – this role does not have line management responsibilities, but is part of a growing team and requires the successful applicant to work with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
